The Board of Trustees of the Wright Memorial Public Library, located in the City of Oakwood, Ohio (a suburb of Dayton) is seeking an Executive Director with strong public library management knowledge to develop and implement innovative and creative plans to position the Library for the future. We require someone with enthusiasm, management/ political expertise and highly collaborative skills to: guide the progress of the Library; serve as the face of the library within the community; understand current trends and the evolving role of a community library. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to use financial, technical and staffing resources effectively to provide high quality services to our community.
Requirements: A Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution, and 5 years of professional public library management experience is required. A successful candidate must have demonstrated experience in library administration, supervision, budget management, strategic planning, and performance measurement. Practical knowledge in building construction/renovation and issues surrounding digital services and consortia is desirable. At least (2) two years of experience as a Director is preferred.

About the Library: Governed by a seven member Board of Trustees, Wright Memorial Pubic Library serves Oakwood and the residents of surrounding communities. Currently the Library has a budget of $1.5 million, a staff of 38, 16,700 cardholders and a circulation of 365,000.
A historical community, Oakwood has 9,000 residents. In 2013, the Ohio Board of Education ranked the Oakwood Schools in the top 1% in Ohio and Newsweek ranked the schools in the top 1% nationally. Oakwood is a walking community located near the University of Dayton and the Dayton downtown area. It contains tree lined streets and a rich collection of historical architecture. Houses in Oakwood, which vary greatly in size, have styles which include Tudor, Colonial Revival, and Gothic Revival. The western end of the city features many large properties and historic houses, such as Hawthorn Hill, home of Orville Wright, a past Board member of the Wright Library.
