You can request that items be placed on hold for you. You can do this yourself using the Online Catalog, by calling the Reference Department (294-7171), or by coming to the Reference Desk in person. For any hold request you will need to provide your library card number. The number of items you can have on hold at one time is limited to 50.
When the item you have requested comes in, you will be notified by the method of your preference, either by phone, by email, or by text. The item will be kept on the Holds Shelf for seven days to give you time to come in and pick it up.
For highly popular items, the Library orders multiple copies, but the waiting list can still be lengthy. "Fast Read" copies of popular books and "Fast View" copies of popular movies cannot be placed on hold and may be available when a regular copy is not.
