Oakwood Recommends seeks to spotlight local citizens and groups by featuring their favorite books, audiobooks, films, music, magazines and games chosen from Wright Memorial Public Library's collection. The Library will be building a Scarecrow for Scarecrow Row at the City of Oakwood's Family Fall Fest. Fall Fest is Sunday, October 12th from 2:00-5:00 p.m. in Shafor Park. Scarecrow Row runs along Shafor Boulevard and can be enjoyed from Sunday, October 12th until Friday, October 31st.
Volunteer members are needed for the Wright Memorial Public Library Foundation Board. Interested volunteers must meet the requirements listed in the job description. If interested in serving on the WMPL Foundation Board, submit a letter of interest to Travis Bautz, Library Director. Letters may be submitted in person, mailed to the Library, or emailed to email@example.com Review of volunteer applicants will begin November 5, 2014 with new board members to start January 2015.
The voting for the new Big Read title for 2015 begins today and runs through October 16. The Big Read Selection Committee has been reading all summer and has come up with a super slate of four fiction titles for Miami Valley residents to vote on. Over a dozen libraries in the Miami Valley come together to plan and carry out the Big Read. You can vote online at BIGREAD.ORG or vote at the library on a paper ballot.
