Patrons are encouraged to schedule times for holds pickup and use our digital collections to reduce contact and traffic inside the building.

Staff is committed to keeping the library as safe as possible during this health crisis and is pleased to be able to add services and remain responsive to changes in the community risk level.

A wide variety of items and genres are available for checkout. Patrons are asked to place all browsed items onto carts, not back onto the shelf. In order to reduce the spread of germs, browsed items will be quarantined.

Wright Memorial Public Library reopened its doors and resumed basic services inside the library on Monday, June 29. The following precautions are in place to minimize the risk of transmission during the pandemic:

  • Patrons are able to
    • browse shelves and select items to check out
      • materials not available on the available shelves can be placed on hold and picked up at a later time
    • pick up holds on a drop in basis, although scheduled pickups will continue at a desk inside the front door
    • check out items at self-check stations or the service desk
    • return items (contactless protocols will remain in place and returns will be quarantined)
    • use a computer (cleaning protocols will be followed)
    • ask research questions
  • The partial reopening of library service involves extensive safety measures to ensure the health of the public and library staff, including:
    • All employees will wear personal protective equipment as required by State Orders and will practice social distancing at all times.
    • The materials return and curbside pickup processes will be contactless.
    • Recently returned circulating materials will be quarantined prior to recirculation among the general public.
    • Regular disinfecting of high touch areas will take place.
    • Browsed items are to be placed on carts, not back on the shelf.
  • All staff and patrons must wear nose and mouth coverings while inside the library. Masks are available.
  • The number of patrons allowed in the building at a time will be limited to facilitate social distancing. Occupancy limits are based on limits set by the City of Oakwood's Health Commissioner.
  • Staff is disinfecting restrooms and high touch surfaces periodically throughout the day.
  • Materials that patrons handle within the library, and return to the library, are quarantined before being placed back into circulation.
  • Furniture and service areas are revamped to enable social distancing for patrons and staff.
  • Portions of the library will remain closed, and patrons are encouraged to use curbside pickup and our digital collections when possible.
