Meet the Artists 2pm December 5th, South Reading Room

Muslim Youth Outreach (MYO+) works to promote a positive representation of Islamic values and build strong and productive relationships within and outside the community. Kaukab Husain is founder and director of the group. For the past year, MYO+ teens have been providing virtual tutoring to displaced Syrians within Syria, near Turkey's border. They have also tutored refugee students in Dayton. Their Humanity Under Oppression project includes the teens' artwork and reflections on genocide, ethnic cleansing, and mass atrocities. The United Nations has declared December 9th World Genocide Commemoration Day. (officially the International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide and of the Prevention of this Crime.) Exhibit open during library hours December 1-15. Meet the Artists on December 5th at 2pm. Originally scheduled to take place outside, the meeting has been moved to the South Reading Room on the Library's top floor.
