A Safe Library
Wright Memorial Public Library is open. updated July 28,2021
Beginning Friday, June 30, Wright Library visitors are asked to wear a mask inside the building regardless of vaccination status. The policy change is in response to new CDC guidelines and a continuing effort to to create a safe experience for unvaccinated children and other vulnerable populations.
The following safety precautions remain in place:
- Staff will wear masks inside the building.
- Masks are not required for attendees, staff or volunteers at any outdoor programs.*
- Staff regularly disinfects high touch areas.
Curbside and home delivery services remain available. Programs will be a mix of outdoor and virtual offerings.
"The library has put safety and service first throughout the pandemic," said Director Kristi Hale. "As we transition to a new mask policy, we continue to seek that balance."
Because some areas are closed for construction and recommendations for six-feet social distancing limit capacity, visitors are asked to be mindful of how long they are in the library. Curbside pickup and digital collections remain available for any who wish to make use of them.

Do I have to wear a mask or socially distance outdoors?
No. Neither the public nor library staff are required to wear masks or socially distance during outdoor programs. At the same time, any person who wishes to wear a mask or socially distance, may do so themselves. The library has reduced the number of shared items and physical interactions at our programs, compared to pre-pandemic programs. We may offer hand sanitizer for patrons to use during programs. Most of all, the library expects everyone to demonstrate respect and care for others by accepting an individual’s expressed choices regarding personal space, touch, their own mask usage, etc.
Where will programs take place?
All outdoor library programs are scheduled to take place on the library’s campus or in the adjacent field. If a program’s location is not immediately evident to you, please check for a sign near the library’s entrance or ask a library staff member for assistance.
What if the weather is bad? Check our Events & Weather Updates page for last minute changes due to weather.
We will email weather-related program changes to the address you provided when registering for Summer Reading Club. In case of rain or high heat index, the library uses information from the National Weather Service to determine if a program will carry on as planned, or will need to be adapted. The most common adaptations are to move a program online or to reschedule it. We will always strive to send program-adaptation emails at least one hour in advance of a program’s start time.
How do I beat the heat at outdoor programs?
Patrons are highly encouraged to bring water from home and wear summer-appropriate clothing such as hats and sunglasses. Patrons may also wish to bring blankets to sit on during outdoor programs. The library will hold as many programs as possible in shaded areas.
