CIVIC ENGAGEMENT With a groundswell of support from community volunteers and donors, a new native garden bloomed in 2022 at Wright Library. The garden received financial support from the Wright Library Foundation, Montgomery County, Four Seasons Garden Club, Girl Scouts of America, and MOMs of Oakwood. Efforts were bolstered by more than 100 volunteer hours. The goal: to become a destination for educational programs, host citizen science and other events for all ages, provide passive ecology education through educational signs, inspire residents to garden with native plants, provide a peaceful place to connect with nature, and create habitat for local and migrating pollinators, insects, and birds.
