Solar Eclipse at Wright Library

Due to the demand for solar eclipse glasses and the Library's limited supply, we want to clarify the availability of the glasses from the Library.

  • One pair of glasses will be given per person.
  • Glasses will be handed out on Saturday, August 19 at the Oakwood Farmers' Market beginning at 9:00 a.m.  This will be first come, first served and only while supplies last.
  • Glasses will also be handed out at the Solar Eclipse Preview program to be held at the Library at 10:30 a.m. also on Saturday, August 19.  Not all who attend the program at the Library are guaranteed a pair of glasses, due to the limited supply.

Please Keep in Mind:

Consider taking only one pair of glasses per household. The whole eclipse lasts nearly three hours, so there's plenty of time to pass glasses around among a group. Sharing is encouraged!

Be aware that Oakwood Schools will be providing glasses to students.  Additionally alternative viewing devices can be easily constructed.  Check out these ideas -

If you can make it, attend the Great American Viewing Party at the Fraze, where 1800 glasses will be distributed.

And if you can be patient, another total eclipse is coming to Dayton in 2024. We will be in the path of totality. - https://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/map/2024-april-8
