Equip yourself to step up during an emergency with The American Heart Association’s Heartsaver First Aid Certification. This course covers necessary medical care for choking, heart attack, stroke, bleeding, broken bones, and other injuries. Anyone 13+ with limited or no medical training will find this course valuable. (Note: CPR certification is not offered for this course.)
Cost is $30 per participant and includes a 3.5-hour training, First Aid booklet, and 2 year certification card, which can be used to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements. If you do not need official certification, you may take the course for a $15 fee. Led by Instructor, Dan Wathen, retired CPR Coordinator at the Kettering Fire Department, this short course prepares anyone to be a life-saver. Registration is required and limited to 30 people. Heartsaver First Aid is a video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills to respond to and manage an emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services arrives. Students learn duties and responsibilities of first aid rescuers; first aid actions for medical emergencies, including severe choking, heart attack, and stroke; and skills for handling injury and environmental emergencies, including external bleeding, broken bones and sprains, and bites and stings.
