BOARD OF TRUSTEES (Volunteer Position)

The Board of Trustees of the Wright Memorial Public Library invites interested individuals to apply for a position on the Board.
The current opening will fill a vacancy created by a Trustee who is stepping down at the end of her term. The new Trustee’s term will begin January 1, 2020 and run through December 31, 2026. A regular full term of office is 7 years, established by state law.
The Board meets on the third Monday of the month at 6:00 p.m. in the library meeting room. Trustees are also assigned to at least two committees that meet on an as-needed basis. Trustees are expected to make a commitment to active participation and consistent attendance. All meetings are public meetings. Discussion and votes take place in person rather than through electronic communication. Some important issues before the Board include library funding, strategic planning, master planning and renovation, and intellectual freedom. Priority consideration will be given to applicants with Human Resources experience.  Board responsibilities include approving long-range goals and monitoring short-range objectives, approving the annual budget and capital expenditures, establishing policy, and evaluating the performance of the library director and fiscal officer.
