Beyond Colorblindness, 7pm Wed. October 28, 2020 REGISTER
Colorblindness or "not seeing color" may seem like the best path to racial justice, but anti-racists argue that "not seeing race" means not seeing racism. This presentation will uncover how so-called racial 'colorblindness' reinforces racism rather than remedying it and lay out a different path for fighting racism.
Anti-racism 101: Anti-racism is the practice of opposing racism, and an anti-racist is someone who actively fights against racism. Join Wright Library for a series of educational workshops exploring the basic tenants of anti-racism. Learn about systemic racism, whiteness, white supremacy, and more. Presented by Dr. Michaela Null of SURJ-OH (Showing Up for Racial Justice). Dr. Null is a former professor of Sociology and Women's Studies and a makerspace specialist. Each virtual workshop stands alone. Registration Required.
